What are P2P Payments?

P2P or Person-2-Person Payments are a digital cash alternative that make sending money fast, easy and secure.

Fast – You initiate a payment from your smart mobile device using your debit card and PIN. Your recipient receives funds almost immediately.

Easy – The feature is ready to use on our mobile appdoesn’t require additional registration

Secure – No need to share your account number with anyone. Securely send money with just an email address or mobile phone number.

Requirements to send money:

You must have a Charlevoix State Bank debit card linked to a personal checking account

You must be enrolled in Online Banking and using our App. Not enrolled? Visit our homepage to “Enroll”.

How it works:

  1. Log into your online account using our mobile app

  2. Click on P2P (upper left menu bar or in the quick links for Apple devices)

  3. Click Payment -> enter payment information

  4. Click Submit

  5. Agree to the User Agreement or cancel if you do not wish to continue

  6. Enter debit card PIN

  7. The recipient receives a notification with the payment details and enters his/her debit card or checking account information to collect the money. No registration or login required for the recipient.

How much does P2P cost?

IT’S FREE! Standard message and data rates may apply when using a mobile device.

Does the recipient have to be a Charlevoix State Bank accountholder?

No – You can send money to virtually anyone using just their email address or mobile phone number. The recipient just needs to have either a debit card or checking account within the United States.

My recipient didn’t receive the text notification, now what?

Be sure the mobile phone number is correct. If number is correct, the recipients mobile cell provider may be fraud blocking the text.

You can send payment using email option instead by creating a new payment.

The text payment will need to be cancelled by a Charlevoix State Bank Customer Service Rep or it will automatically reverse in 10 calendar days.

When I click on P2P I get an API error. What does that mean?

This error generally occurs because you have “space” in your username. P2P does not recognize a space as a character, so the function will not open. Solution: Contact our Bookkeeping/Customer Service Dept. so they can remove the space. 231-547-4411

What PIN do I enter to send a transaction?

Payments are processed as PIN-based debit card transactions, so you must use the PIN tied to your Charlevoix State Bank consumer debit card. Don’t know your PIN? Charlevoix State Bank does not retain PIN information – you will have to request one from us (fee may apply) and it will be mailed to you via USPS.

Is there a limit to the amount of money or number of payments I can send using P2P?

Yes. You may send an unlimited number of payments but the daily total cannot exceed $1000*.

After I make a payment, when will the funds be taken from my account?

Payments sent using P2P will be debited from your account immediately.

When do the funds become available to the recipient?

If the recipient chooses to collect the funds via a *debit card, the funds are available immediately. Otherwise the transaction is processed via Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network and funds will be available in 1 to 3 business days, depending on the receiving FI’s process. *Some financial institutions do not participate in this type of transfer.

My recipient tried to collect the funds using their debit card, but it said their card wasn’t eligible.

Some financial institutions do not participate in this type of transfer and this is the message that will appear: This card is currently not eligible to receive funds. Please enter a different debit card or your checking account information to collect your money.

If I send money, what happens if the receiver doesn’t collect it?

If the recipient of the transfer does not collect their money within 10 days, you will be notified, and the funds will be returned to your account within 1-2 business days.

How do I cancel a payment?

To cancel a payment that has not yet been collected, contact a CSB Customer Service Rep at 231-547-4411. If the payment has already been collected, Charlevoix State Bank will be unable to retrieve the funds.


My payment is declining for expired card but my card is not expired?

If your debit card just expired and you received a new one, you will need to delete your current card and add it again. This is done under "Manage Cards"; Charlevoix State Bank cannot update this on your behalf.
